Adriano Pereira joined RNAissance Ag in March 2023. 

He hails from Brazil where he grew up on a family farm raising dairy cattle and coffee. He is passionate about insect pests and has more than 26 years of professional experience as an entomologist.

Prior to joining RNAissance Ag, Adriano worked as a research scientist and entomologist for the University of Missouri USDA/Agricultural Research Service (ARS), exploring corn rootworm resistance management, RNAi, resistance mechanisms, and improvement of toxicity bioassays. He previously worked as an agricultural specialist with the USDA/Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) in pest quarantine and eradication in Brazil and South America. 

He has worked with multiple insect pests and has extensive experience with the three major modes of action in insecticides. He also brings experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, and evolution of insect resistance to pesticides. 

Adriano earned a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from the Federal University of Lavras, Brazil; a master’s degree in entomology/integrated pest management from the Federal University of Vicosa, Brazil; and a Ph.D. in entomology and toxicology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
